RoughRider America’s Volunteer Program to Fix Wheelchairs for Unhoused People in San Francisco
From 2004 – 2014, Whirlwind Wheelchair International provided free wheelchair repair to homeless people in San Francisco through the city’s model program Project Homeless Connect (PHC). Since 2014, RoughRider America has been providing the free wheelchair repair. Every other month, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium is filled with thousands of homeless people receiving services from a host of volunteer organizations and municipal agencies. RoughRider America’s Homeless Connect effort is led by lifelong San Francisco resident Bob Incerti, who unfailingly organizes each event’s logistics and volunteers.
